On the planet of Kumflux there lived a happy peaceful loving race of creatures. They were round red bouncy things with a red horn sticking out of each side of their body.
They lived in peace and all was quite disgustingly happy. One day the Kumflux council (alien planets only ever have one country and race. have you noticed that?) decided they should spread their love throughout the universe. A rocket ship was to be built and sent to the stars with two ambassadors aboard.
Chosen as ambassador were a male and a female named Modwunk and Modwunkina. They were married so it seemed like a sensible choice.
So off into space they went. The noble ambassadors passed the time by being happy and bouncing about. Eventually they approached a blue green planet and decided to start their mission there.
The ship landed in a hidden grove on planet earth and Modwunk and Modwunkina ventured out to explore the world. The first place they came to was a small house in the middle of nowhere. They bounced up to the door and headed inside.
Here they encountered a small child named Briony. Briony was only 5 and to be honest a pretty slow child so the sight of two bouncy red balls moving of their own volition did not surprise her at all. She walked up to the alien explorers and poked them with her finger. They didnt seem to mind so she poked them some more. Then picked them up and chucked them about a bit.
Modwunk and Modwunkina didn't know what to make of this. The creature didn't seem to bare them any malice so they let her do what she wished.
Briony was having a great time with her new toys. Then suddenly she had a brainwave. She grabbed Modwunk by his horns and sat on top of him and proceed to bounce around the room. This she found endlessly enjoyable and she squealed with delight.
This noise aroused the interest of her father who came into the room to see his child bouncing around on top of this strange creature. It sure looked like fun so he grabbed Modwunkina and did the same thing.
And then the idea hit him. There was money to be made in this.
Pretty soon Modwunk and Modwunkina were in enforced slavery. They were made to breed to provide more bouncing red things. The father then went on to sell these creatures as a child's toy under the name "Space Hopper".
Modwunk and Modwunkina sank into a terrible depression. The father made millions.
